I may have mentioned in one of my posts before that I suffer from RA a.k.a Rheumatoid Arthritis. Yea I know it freaking sucks but for the past twelve years I have been living off of ibuprophen only to deal with my stiffness and joint pains. I have permanent joint damage on both my wrists and have a deformed pinky finger. It wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago when I had a real bad inflammation attack that basically scared me straight into dealing with this disease in a different aspect.
I looked into my eating habits to see if there’s something I can change and I was astonished at the outcome. Almost everything I was eating triggered my inflammation. It’s been two weeks that I have completely changed my eating habits. As my knowledge for what I am able to eat grows so will my palate.
What I’ve learned so far Sugar is my number one NO NO!!! Wheat is number two and Dairy is number three. I am Lactose Intolerant as well so this is one easy for me. I must start a Gluten Free lifestyle of eating and cut out as much sugar as I can from my day to day. I have done it with my coffee so far, but I do LOVE sweets, and change my pasta to gluten free. I learned that lemons help clean out toxins in our bodies so I have been infusing my water with lemons and other fruits that are good for people who suffer with RA like pineapples, strawberries and blueberries. When I want a little flavor I infuse my sparkling water. I have been making the effort to carry things to eat while I’m at work which is where I was eating poorly.
I have been a green eating machine the past two weeks and I must say I feel the difference, I still wake up stiff and I still have to take ibuprophen at night before bed but I notice a ease within. Another ingredient I have been using is Tumeric powder which is a super spice that helps with inflammation. I sprinkle it on everything I eat now, my kale, spinach, broccoli, pasta, asparagus and baked chicken. There are many uses for Tumeric in the beauty world as well, it is used as a face mask, facial hair remover and as a face brightener.
I know I must also find balance to incorporate exercise to complete my journey to a better ME, but to be honest I have lost motivation. Last year I had found a Pin from Pinterest a 30 Squat and Plank Challenge which I conquered that then lead me to doing Yoga. Even though most of the Yoga poses I had to do in moderation it felt great to accomplish most of them. Once school started this past September my motivation has been obsolete. Another goal I must tackle!!!
Until My Next Post…
What are some recommendations and do any of you suffer from something? I would love to know.
I will continue this journey to a healthier ME.
